Walk 258 - Foel Cedig, Cyrniau Nod, Cefn Gwyntog
Distance: 18.2km
Ascent: 667m
Oct 2026 - (with Glyn and Graeme) Ascent from Nant Nadroedd Bach. Fantastic walk despite a horrendously heathery and boggy section where we all went over at least once. Magnificent drive from Oswestry to the start point, the final section alongside Llyn Efyrnwy with radiation fog adding to the atmosphere. After parking up, there was a Brocken Spectre early doors and then a good track to Foel Cedig in wonderful conditions as we walked on the top edges of the fog. Great panoramas emerged to the east and the Berwyn tops and to the west with the entire Aran Ridge in view. the good track ended as we clambered across to Cyrniau Nod where we rested and had a snack. It was then the return over Foel Cedig before striking off south to Cefn Gwyntog where the path disappeared and appeared again several times. The descent to the tree line of the valley to the west from the summit was hideous - thick, deep heather and holes aplenty; every step was unpredictable. We visited some waterfalls that were underwhelming, but we did have lunch there. The descent through the forestry was steep but was mushroom city. It was only when we reached the road that we encountered the first humans (in cars) in five hours. It was a long slog uphill on a gorgeous minor road to the car. Great walk - fantastic to be out with Graeme and the Glynny Boy again.
