Apr 2025 - Ascent from Nant Peris. Amazing walk today. The pull up to Cwm Padrig from Nant Peris is extremely steep but absolutely gorgeous - ancient woodland, goats, vivid gorse and waterfalls. Excellent views over to the cwms of Llechog to the south. The huge bulk of the Glyders kept my ascent mostly in the cooler shade. Saw nobody on the ascent apart from a group heading down after camping near Llyn y Cwn. There were a few folks on the summit of Y Garn, drinking in the incredible views down to Llyn Idwal and Ogwen, and Nant Ffrancon, as well as the Snowdon Massif to the south-west. Had a snack here before the long crossing to Elidir Fawr. The Marchlyn Mawr Reservoir desperately needs some rain! Had lunch on Elidir Fawr's sweltering summit before the initial ankle-breaking descent across unpredictable boulders. From there, the descent to Nant Peris is lovely. Plenty of cute lambs about today.
