Mar 2025 - Ascent from Beudy'r Ddol, Cwm Pennant. One the best walks of all time today - absolutely wonderful. The Nantlle Ridge is always brilliant but the superb weather and the lack of folk made today really special. The drive through Cwm Pennant was 8 miles of solitude with an increasing feel of remoteness - only 2 gates to open and close which was a bonus. The start point was right at the end of the road, a new one for me. The walk up through the now long-disused quarrying and mining landscapes was fantastic. So much to see, including an adit that disappeared into the hill for as far as the eye could see. The Nantlle Ridge was just epic and the views incredible. The route off Garnedd Goch, where I had lunch, back down into the cwm was mostly improvised but entertaining with the Lleyn Peninsula looking fabulous and Tremadoc Bay sparkling in the sun. To top the walk off, the mile and a half back up the road to the start point was massively improved when I encountered a young farm girl on a quad bike cradling 2 lambs. She let me take a piccie and smooth them. The final two pics are from Plas y Brenin's bar - the Snowdon massif in the distance over Llynnau Mymbyr.
