 Walk 215 - Cribyn
Distance: 10.2km
Ascent: 405m

Sept 2024 - (with Andy) Ascent from Neuadd. Another fabulous outing with Andy. He was doning the head gear and googlies early doors at Taliban cafe, even attempting to involve the proprietor, who politely declined on religious grounds. The pharaoh headgear elicited an uneasiness on his part; his Hindu faith was compromised! Once our paths had converged, we scoped the flanks of the Talybont Reservoir for adversaries en route to the Neuadd car park start point. Cribyn and its esteemed neighbouring mountains were shrouded in fog at this point which Andy added to, sucking on a roll up for his warm up! Once his lungs were loosened up, we begun the gradual ascent to the bwlch, stopping frequently along the way for comedy snaps or to sit on our arse. The mist was definitely thinning, with tantalising glimpses of the escarpment teasing and seducing in equal measure. We began the steep bit and encountered a dude from Scotland halfway up who'd recently 'compleated' the Munros! It finally cleared. A joyous hour was spent on Cribyn's summit as Brocken Spectres came and went as did hopelessly lost hikers, and fast-moving cloud. Pen y Fan stubbornly refused to reveal itself but Fan y Big and Waun Rydd were spectacular to the east. This was the walk where Andy and I discovered that we could both verbatim quote the entire back catalogue of Alan Partridge. Jurassic Park! It was a relaxed descent to end a wonderful walk.
