Walk 208 - Foel Grach
Distance: 13.5km
Ascent: 670m
May 2024 - (with Glyn) Ascent from Llyn Eigiau. The walk into Cwm Eigiau has to be one of my favourites. Such a glorious feeling of remoteness. Glyn enjoyed the visit to the Dolgarrog dam disaster memorial and was fascinated by the location of the breached dam wall. Swelteringly hot throughout the walk today. The pull up from the head of the cwm to Foel Grach is a real pathless grinder. The amazing crags of Carnedd Llewelyn drew the eye. We ate an early lunch on the summit. I walked straight into knee-deep saturated ground on the descent to Llyn Melynllyn. It was really scary but Glyn eventually hauled me out. My feet wouldn't budge for ages; the suction was incredible. I was really thankful that Glyn was there.
