May 2021- Ascent from Coedwig Glasfynydd. Another wonderful walk in perfect weather. No wind whatsoever yet cold air which meant great visibility. Decided to approach the Black Mountain from the furthest north I’ve done it before, again, in order to avoid the crowds. There were a few people about on the summits but I saw nobody on the approach. A wonderful forest section was followed by a gentle approach over rolling foothills. Eventually, it was the state pull up Fan Foel’s north ridge. Spent a short while on the summit of Fan Brycheiniog before having a snack in one of my favourite places overlooking Picws Du and the Llyn y Fan Fach. A lovely return along mostly the same route as the ascent with a brief stop for lunch.
