Aug 2017 - (with Gemma) Ascent from Habkern. 35 degrees throughout the walk; absolute scorcher. A longer approach this time through some shaded woodland which we were extremely thankful for, but mostly just a gruelling trek through meadows and up forestry track. Things got rocky in the last 300m of ascent and we deviated from the path on a couple of occasions to scramble. The two summits were spectacular and offered views of the smaller Alps with the 4000m+ giants behind. Mountain goats on the summit of Hohgant and some ibex spotted in the distance. The descent was a real feet acher. All good fun though...
