Walk 99 - Criffel
Distance: 5km
Ascent: 506m

Aug 2020 - Ascent from Ardwall. A short ascent on the way up through Scotland. Just as well as I felt rotten for most of the walk after anxiety about the journey caught up with me. You'd think I'd be used to it after all this time. Odd one. I've wanted to go up Criffel for some time after admiring it from Skiddaw and Blencathra across the Solway Firth. It was ok - a lovely forestry track gives way to a boggy steep path. This, they are in the process of replacing with a continuation of the forestry path. Helicopters were out and about which was interesting up close. There was plenty of cloud about which restricted the best of the views. I will return one day - hopefully feeling better and with views of the Lakes.
