Walk 149 - Beinn a'Chrulaiste

Distance: 7.6km

Ascent: 650m

Oct 2026 - Ascent from Altnafeidh. Beinn a'Chrùlaiste is well seen when driving north on the A82 towards Glencoe, but its rounded, bulky outline goes unnoticed next to the magnificence of Buachaille Etive Mòr on the other side of the road. It does, however, make perhaps the greatest viewpoint for its celebrated neighbour; the panorama from the summit is outstanding in all directions. Set off at midday and was up and down in two and a half hours. Wind was extremely blustery and there were some stingy hailstorms  but the visibility was mostly good. Great views from the summit plateau to the Mamores, the Grey Corries, and Ben Nevis to the northwest. Could also make out the Easains over Blackwater Reservoir but the walk was dominated by a dramatic, head-on view of Stob Dearg and the massive, craggy northern face of the mountain right across the valley. Got soaked, kit was blown dry, then got soaked again, and blown dry again.
