Walk 133 - Moruisg, Sgùrr nan Ceannaichean
Distance: 12km
Ascent: 978m

Oct 2022 - Ascent from layby on south side of A890. Gorgeous 35 mile drive to the start point to catch the best of the weather. Once again, I saw absolutely nobody today, just deer and ptarmigans. The ascent was an unremitting bog slog, but the weather held and there were some views back to the Torridon giants. Eventually, I reached the summit of Moruisg where there were great views of the Fannichs, and I spotted An Teallach and Slioch. The walk now changed character and became much more enjoyable. I followed the broad ridge southwest to reach the top of the crags of Coire Toll nam Bian. The ridge then turned south, keeping the crags close by and traversed a minor bump. Later the ridge curved southwest once more and descended more steeply down rockier ground to the bealach. It was then the steep climb to the second summit of the day. Sgùrr nan Ceannaichean was briefly a Munro before reverting to Corbett status following a resurvey. It is a fine, rocky little mountain of great character. The summit was a great viewpoint taking it the remote Munros Sgurr a’ Chaorachain and Sgurr Choinnich. From the summit, there were also amazing views down to Gleann Fhiodhaig. From the shoulder of Sgùrr nan Ceannaichean, the ridge which descended north. The descent was mostly grassy, with some steeper sections. Further down the ridge was the rocky bluff of Creag a'Chait; this was avoided by keeping to the left side of the crags. Once below this steep descent, I headed northeast to reach the Alltan na Feola burn. A great return to the car through an area of regenerating native woodland. Sodden feet; there was no avoiding the bog! Loved it though.
