 Walk 120 - Beinn Fhada
Distance: 16.8km
Ascent: 1234m

Aug 2021 - Ascent from Morvich. Beinn Fhada is a mountain of great bulk. Whilst it may lack the graceful ridges elsewhere in Kintail, an ascent reveals its true character and complexity, with some magnificent northern corries. The initial gentle ascent through the valley above the Abhainn Chonaig.was gorgeous; so peaceful and atmospheric. The climb into the Coire an Sgairne and eventually onto the summit plateau was equally lovely. No-one about at all, except me. Spent a while on the summit for lunch and then decided to descend via the Sgùrr a Choire Ghairbh ridge. This was tricky in the wet; the path was intermittent and the rocks really slippery. It was also really long. There was an awkward, steep, slabby scramble at one point which increased the pulse somewhat. I'd read about it and knew it was coming but it was challenging in the wet. I was relieved when I reached the top. From here, the ridge continued to curve to the left, before featureless slopes are descended towards the foot of Gleann Lichd. Wet, not much to see on the tops but enjoyed it nevertheless.
