Walk 114 - Ben Lui
Distance: 19.3km
Ascent: 1033m

Aug 2021 - (with Gemma) Ascent from Dalrigh. Just a wonderful walk. Ben Lui is a fantastic mountain and I was excited about tackling it from this angle having previously summited it from the north-west. Fantastically peaceful, if long, trek in alongside the Cononish River on both there and back. Although it’s a considerable walk in, the views ahead of Ben Lui are magnificent and a taste of what’s to come. After several miles, the climb begins in earnest. We chose the Stob Garbh ridge after the corrie , for the ascent - a great ridge which offers amazing views over to the munros of Glen Etive, Glen Coe and north-west towards the Mamores and Nevis. Once we reached the summit, the panoramas were astonishing. Countless mountains in view. We improvised slightly on the descent, passed the remains of a plane that crashed into the mountain in 1941 and eventually joined the north-east ridge. This is turn led to steep grassy slopes before we rejoined the outward route just below the corrie. Achy feet by the time we reached the car,.
