Walk 101 - Meall nan Aighean, Carn Mairg
Distance: 12.8km
Ascent: 1144m

Aug 2020 - Ascent from Invervar. I decided to complete the Glen Lyon round by climbing the remaining two munros that I left off in the snow four years ago. The drive to the start point alongside Loch Tay and then through Glen Lyon itself was magical in the early morning sun. I was surprised to see so many cars at 8am at the start point albeit a Saturday, and with so many holidaying at ‘home’. Everywhere you could fit a car, there was a car. I was lucky to get a place tucked away on the verge. As the other walkers leaving at the same time as me set off in the common clockwise direction, I headed the other way meaning I had the hills to myself early on. Great panoramas of the Lawers range throughout the walk, and eventually when I reached the summit of Meall nan Aighean, one of my favourites, Schiehallion, appeared to the north. After the down and up to Carn Mairg, I sat and had a snack and rest, drinking in the views in all directions. Sensational weather today. I was tempted to do the other two munros again but decided against it. Now, writing this, I wish I had as I couldn’t check into my accommodation until 4pm anyway. I dropped down into Coire Chearcaill which was stunning and home to many deer. A great route down, real isolation, before it joined the outward path.
