Travelling Trev
Walk 9 - Ben More
Distance: 8.2km
Ascent: 1102m

July 2013 - (with Gemma) Ascent from Benmore Farm. Great to be back in Scotland. After staying the first night in Crianlarich, we decided to take on Ben More before travelling on to Glen Coe. The weather was promising, sunny with light showers and good visibility. We followed the path leading up Benmore Burn, before leaving this path and heading up the northwest ridge of Ben More. The ridge was unrelentingly steep, rising approximately 1,000 metres in about 1.5 miles. It was incredibly gruelling and we were thankful for frequent rests and the wonderful views back towards Loch Dochart and Ben Lui. We reached the summit within two hours and drank in the amazing views before descending to the col. Not wanting to overdo it on the first walk, we decided to leave the next Munro, Stob Binnein, for another day. We descended mostly on wet slippery grass to Benmore Glen. Gemma fell over and was also attacked by insects, much to my amusement. From here we followed the track back to the car before enjoying the wonderful drive to Glen Coe.
