Galtybeg, Galtymore
Distance: 10.5km
Ascent: 700m

June 2025 - (with Glyn) Ascent from Black Road car park. Great to be back on the Emerald Isle. Stopped off in Cahir to see the castle and geese! The Galtee Mountains are spread across the borders of three counties in Munster: Limerick, Tipperary and Cork. The name for this range of mountains was derived from the Irish Sléibhte na gCoillte, or 'Mountains of the forests'. Weather forecast for the tops was bands of rain with sunny intervals - Gemma didn't fancy it! Glyn and I set off and got soaked and dried again twice during the walk. Relatively easy route and best views were from the summit of Galtybeg. Loads of memorials on the summit of Galtymore.
