Travelling Trev
Jurassic Coast - Kingston, St Aldhelm's Head, Winspit Round
Distance: 15.8km
Ascent: 485m

March 2025 - Down in Dorset early doors once again. Some new small sections covered today, in particular the Houns-tout Cliff to West Hill section; and the Purbeck Way section from Worth Matravers to the B3069. Rain during the drive but it cleared to sun as forecast by 9am. Nobody about apart from a couple of walkers, some buzzards circling overhead and a herd of sheep that had escaped a field and were milling about near the Emmetts Hill edge. Great views as always, and the colours turning more vivid as the year goes on - especially the yellows of the Spring Gorse and the Daffers. It’s my theory that we recognise the vibrancy of colours more as we age, and it’s nothing to do with ‘slowing down and maturing’. I firmly believe it’s a biological thing. To compensate for our skeletal and muscular systems going to pot, humans have evolved a rods and cones’ reflection and absorption retinal thing which allows our eyes to enrich the colours we perceive. According to other folk (actual scientists I’ve researched), our distinction of colours wanes as we get older due to the yellowish tinge our lenses get. Nonsense - I’m right! Mind you, it was the yellows that I felt were most vivid. An enjoyable stank.
