Travelling Trev
SWCP - Looe to Lansallos
Distance: 14.5km
Ascent: 690m

Dec 2024 - Drove down from Southampton and arrived in Looe by 9am. Spent the first part of the walk desperately seeking a toilet and achieved this in the nick of time. Good memories were brought into focus when looking out to Looe Island, particularly one where Helen and I watched the annual swim back to Looe from there. The island remained in sight all the way around Portnadler Bay. It was my first time to Talland Bay which was lovely with colourful rocks. The distinctive green and purple rocks at Talland are Dartmouth Slates from the Lower Devonian period, formed when Cornwall lay beneath the Rheic Ocean, south of the equator, some 400 million years ago. There were great rock formations throughout the walk. Polperro was gorgeous and brilliant when approached from the coast. Had a snack on Chapel Rock. After Polperro, there were some huge down and ups and the path sticks close to the cliffs. There were some folk braving the water down at Lansallos beach. Interesting graves in Lansallos churchyard, especially the resting place of potentially half of a cannonball victim! Whilst waiting for the bus back to Looe, two elderly ladies offered me a lift which I gratefully accepted. Some difficult moments on the walk today especially at Hannafore Point where we enjoyed rockpooling,  and Lansallos, two places Helen and I spent happy times. The last few photos are from Looe in the late afternoon.
