Anglesey - Poddle around Penmon Point
Distance: 5.3km
Ascent: 130m

Dec 2024 - A walk too short for the site really. I had decided upon a walk in the Carneddau but a fallen tree prevented me from getting anywhere near the start point. I then decided on Tryfan but it was in the clag despite the promising Met Office forecast. I wasn't really feeling it today to be honest and was quite tired. Then, I thought of my dear friend Andy and a place he holds dear on Anglesey. Enthusiasm refuelled, I set off for Penmon Point. I was slightly annoyed to be stopped at a toll near the beautiful remains of the Penmon Dovecote and priory where I was was forced to pay £3.50 in cash to an unshaven bloke who looked like an alcoholic darts player. It was worth it as Penmon Point was beautiful with the Trwyn Du lighthouse and Puffin Island beyond. I decided to take a little stroll however the coast path heads inland so I cut down to the coast near the huge fish farms and discovered some amazing carboniferous geology. The limestone pavements and karst scenery here were incredible. I startled a flock of guillemots which I was surprised were still around at this time of year. When I later drove back up the Ogwen Valley, the tops were all still in the clag.
