Nov 2024 - (with Glyn) Second Friday in a row in the Cotswolds, this time with Sir Glynny Boy of Alton Parish in tow. It was a fabulous walk, and we visited Belas Knap. It's a neolithic, chambered long barrow and a fascinating place, although not, in my opinion, as impressive as West Kennet's. Construction is estimated to have taken place around 3000 BC, with following successive burials over a period of years and then the burial chambers were deliberately blocked. Lunch was had near the old sheep dip on Cleeve Common where we were besieged by several dogs who were going mental as an apologetic 'dog walker' arrived. Views from Cleeve Hill were limited again due to the persistent anticyclonic gloom, and there were shite golfers hacking their way around the golf course again. The evening was quality with Deya taproom, hilarious Uber trips, retro Top of the Pops repeats and bum photos the main highlights. The enjoyment in the Deya taproom was tempered somewhat by the young offspring of irresponsible parents charging about unsupervised, reminding us of the dogs we encountered earlier in the day.
