Elan Valley Reservoir Walk
Distance: 13.9km
Ascent: 200m

May 2022 - (with Glyn) The construction of the dams of the Elan Valley was one of the great feats of Victorian engineering, a series of immense walls that created five reservoirs that hold 100,000 megalitres of water to supply Birmingham with clean drinking. The area was chosen for its high rainfall and unpolluted landscapes but it wasn't without controversy as families had to be moved to allow the valleys to flood. In times of severe drought, some of those buildings see daylight again. This walk visits two of the reservoirs - Caban-coch and Garreg-ddu.Lovely walk this. Great colours and really peaceful.
