Nov 2024 - Ascent from Old Dungeon Ghyll. 13 months away and an amazing welcome back - an absolute privilege to be on the fells today. Dear me, quite emotional in places. Walking by 0745, and rocketed up as the Met Office forecast was clag by 10am. Wrong...again! Still, the early exertion was worth it - once I was on the Crinkles, the views were astounding. Massive inversion, especially to the southwest. Met a guy called Robin on Long Top and we talked briefly, then joined forces just after Bowfell. Lovely guy and amazing conversation for the rest of the walk. The usual knee breaking descent of Rossett Gill and the long walk out flew by. Very greasy underfoot but no stacking it today, fortunately.
