Walk 261 - Red Screes, Little Hart Crag, Dove Crag, Hart Crag, Fairfield, Great Rigg, Stone Arthur
Distance: 12.7km
Ascent: 870m
April 2022 - Ascent from Kirkstone Inn. Bus to start point was hilarious and infuriating in equal measure  - I won't go into it here but it involved a huge amount of Chinese tourists with little to no understanding of where they were, or how to conduct themselves with appropriate English bus etiquette. Total clag up on the Kirkstone Pass but the weather seemed to improve with height. First did this route in 2015 courtesy of Gemma's Taxis! Once on the summit of Red Screes, the views were surprisingly good, considering the forecast. It didn't rain all day which was a winner. I had to walk in wet boots - getting a new pair in Keswick at some point over the next few days. Forgot how massive the down and up to Little Hart Crag was. Great little summit though. Once I'd ascended to Dove Crag, the clag had returned and stayed obstinately down until Great Rigg. Had lunch in in one of Fairfield's summit shelters. Picked my way down with aching limbs (I'm 50 in 10 days) to Stone Arthur and, ultimately, down to Grasmere. Two starts in two days from Kirkstone - almost 2600m of descent. Legs are gravy.
