March 2022 - Ascent from Swirls. Bus to the start point from Windermere just after 10. Despite the fact I'm almost 50, the average age on the bus must've still been 75/80. I was the only walker amongst a sea of Grasmere and Keswick bound pensioners. The ascent was steady and enjoyable with retrospectives of Skiddaw and the north-western fells. Once I'd passed Browncove Crags, the wind strengthened considerably and by the time I'd reached the deserted summit, it was gale-force. After walking sideways across the summit, I quickly took in Nethermost Pike before picking my way carefully down to Wythburn.
