March 2022 - Ascent from Grasmere. Chose this ridge walk today due to the amount of exit points should the ribs/back falter. Both were achy this morning but that nagging ache receded once I'd got moving. Bus to Grasmere and then up to Helm Crag, passing plenty of other walkers despite my fragile state. Fair to say that the scramble to the true summit on the Howitzer was beyond me today. Felt ok so continued to Gibson Knott and Calf Crag. I considered taking in either Steel Fell (clockwise) or Tarn Crag (anticlockwise), but, once I'd decided I'd tried my luck for long enough, I eventually elected for the long trod down through Far Easedale. Glad I did as it was a lovely gentle descent with plenty of great waterfalls and rock formations.
