Walk 247 - Great End, Scafell Pike
Distance: 15.9km
Ascent: 1117m
Dec 2021 - Ascent from Seathwaite Farm. Chilly, frosty morning as I skidded the car down the Borrowdale Valley to Seathwaite. Lovely ascent past Stockley Bridge and up beside Grains Gill. At this point, about 600m, I entered the cloud and was excited to come out of it and perhaps enjoy an inversion. It kind of happened on Great End and the Pike, however the upper edge of the cloud was fuzzy despite the glorious blue skies above. This meant that the inversion was hazy and only to the west. Did see a lovely fog bow though! Spent over an hour and a half on the summit before I needed to move on due to the cold. The Corridor Route to Styhead was lovely as always.
