Walk 245 - Skiddaw Little Man, Skiddaw, Bakestall, Latrigg
Distance: 19.1km
Ascent: 1051m
Dec 2021 - Ascent from Gale Road car park. A sensational walk in gorgeous conditions. A temperature inversion meant a chilly start but the early morning light was magical. Great sunrise over Clough Head and the Dodds. Fantastic panoramas and clear air. All of the Lake District biggies were in view. Spent ages on the summit of Skiddaw where it was relatively mild, and where the views west over the coastal areas were totally under the inversion. Blencathra and the fells around Derwent Water looked sublime. Skidded down to Bakestall on the icy path and then enjoyed the Cumbria Way route past the YH and Lonscale Fell's east ridge back to the car. Tagged on Latrigg at the end to enjoy the inversion over Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite Lake. Magnificent!
