July 2014 - (with Gemma) We began the day with a climb up Hliderfjall volcano/mountain which was extremely steep but offered fine views of the Krafla volcanic fields and Myvatn Lake. It was a gentle ascent across lava fields and then a steep pull up volcanic scree. We then hiked up to the rim of the Hverfjell volcano and circled it. It's a huge tephra crater. This also gave us unbelievable views of the steaming hills and distant ice capped mounatins.
