Aug 2023 - Ascent from Cret du Loup. Rest day for Gemma and in a way, for me. Took the chairlifts up to a height of 1800m and then went from there, due in part to the hideous heat that was forecast. The temperature was brutal, but I still enjoyed the ascent and explored beyond the summit up to another unnamed peak where the ridge abruptly ended due to a stomach-churning drop. The summit of Aiguille des Calvaires has many crosses (one massive one) and catholic bits and pieces scattered around. After a snack and two litres of water, I returned to the lower chairlift.
